Upcoming Examinations and Fees

Examination Dates and Locations

This will be the last year where the paper and pencil exam will be offered. For future exams, the exam will be offered via Computer Based Testing (CBT) only. The LNCC examination is offered twice each year, in the spring and fall, at several test sites nationwide. It is also offered each year at the AALNC National Educational Conference.

Examination Dates

The next paper exam will be offered on: October 23, 2010
The Computer Based Test (CBT) will be offered: October 15 - 23, 2010
**Please note, effective spring 2011 the LNCC will be a Computer Based Test ONLY

Computer Based Testing

Below are some benefits to a Computer Based Exam:

  • More opportunities to take the exam - Exam window is October 15 - 23, 2010
  • Immediate results - an applicant will know when he/she passed the exam immediately
  • More convenient - reduced travel expense through a more local administration of the exam

Examination Sites

Please note that we transitioned to a new testing company, SMT, beginning with the Fall 2008 exam. The October 23 examination session will be offered in the vicinities of the following cities:

Fremont, CA Minneapolis, MN
Fort Collins, CO Kansas City, MO
Newark, DE Charlotte, NC
Miami, FL Flushing, NY
Orlando, FL Akron, OH
Atlanta, GA Dearborn, MI
Indianapolis, IN Houston, TX
Louisville, KY Seattle, WA
Lafayette, LA  

SMT will provide you with your testing location's address and driving directions with your test confirmation. Your test confirmation will be sent to you via email approximately 2 weeks prior to the exam.


Note: if traveling to any of these sites presents a major difficulty, you may contact SMT directly at
(866) 737-2101 to request a special testing site.
Sites are subject to cancellation for insufficient registration. 

Examination Fees

The fees for the LNCC examination are as follows:

Application Fee

AALNC member $325
Non-member $395

Returned Check Fee $20
Any applicant whose personal check is returned for insufficient funds is required to pay this fee. Remittance of fees thereafter must be by money order or certified check.
