Meet Kari:

Owner of MKC Medical Management, Inc. a nationwide medical legal consulting company that provides a variety of services to the legal and insurance sectors.  Kari has twenty plus years as a legal nurse consultant and case manager.

What is the importance of social media to LNC’s today?

As with all businesses, social medial has become an unstoppable vehicle that delivers all kinds of information to the end user. This ability carries over into the LNC world. Most people, including LNCs prefer this type of communication as it is quick, current, informative and readily accessible.

What are some of the challenges that LNC’s face on social media?

I think two of the biggest challenges are to establish your company relevancy, and how you differ from others.  Establishing and building relationships is challenging and time consuming.  It has to be multi-faceted and consistent.

What are some of the things you’ve learned through your experience on the AALNC Social Media Committee?

We have some really, really extraordinary LNCs.  They come from diverse backgrounds and have so much to offer the legal and insurance sectors. They have a wealth of information and social medial platforms provide a way to share that information.

What advice would you give other LNC’s who are just getting started with using social media professionally?

You have to do it.  Start out slow and carve out a manageable amount of time daily or weekly.  Be consistent and strive to help others. This shows your character and knowledge base.  People will find you!

Why should fellow LNC’s follow AALNC on social media?

Because AALNC is an awesome organization that really has a long term vision for LNCs and how we interface with the legal and insurance sectors.  There is a wealth of information on the website and often this information is distributed through social media.  It’s also a way that an organization of this kind and size can be more personal and individualized.
