Tell us a little bit about your history in legal nurse consulting.

I have been consulting for attorneys for 20 years. I had not considered a career in legal nurse consulting until a criminal defense attorney contacted me to look at a case. He had been referred to me by one of the local prosecutors. It was a great experience. I learned so much about records review, developing demonstrative evidence, and educating the attorney who knew nothing about child sexual abuse. Since then, I’ve worked on many criminal cases and expanded to include wrongful death, and occupational injury cases.

Why did you become a member of the Educational Institutions Task Force?

I answered the call for member participation because I felt this is such an important task force. This is an excellent opportunity for education institutions to take advantage of the many resources the organization has developed.

What goals did you have when joining the Educational Institutions Task Force?

At first, I was not sure what to expect. I just knew there were so many possibilities. As we began working, I wanted to make sure that educational institutions, colleges, universities, etc. are introduced to AALNC and the resources that may help them deliver high quality education to students. It is challenging to develop a course from scratch. But, having AALNC resources makes it so much easier.
