Description: Join neurologist Dr. Alex Merkler for an overview of the acute management of ischemic stroke. The webinar will cover the difference between an ischemic versus hemorrhagic stroke and the indications and risks and benefits of IV tPA for acute ischemic stroke. Also discussed will be the indications and risks and benefits of mechanical thrombectomy and delayed mechanical thrombectomy along with the medicolegal aspects of stroke care. At the end of webinar, participants should be able to list why and when tPA and mechanical thrombectomy should be used for acute ischemic stroke and should be knowledgeable regarding the risks and benefits of these treatments.
