Important Update on the AALNC Annual Forum 2020

Our Statement on the Event Cancellation

After much review, dialogue with key stakeholders and considerable evaluation of the evolving public health situation regarding COVID-19, the AALNC Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cancel the AALNC Forum, April 23 – 25, in Denver, Colorado.

AALNC does not take this unprecedented decision lightly. Our primary concern is the health and safety of our members, attendees, industry partners, and our staff. As nurses, we know that leading by example in the face of this health crisis is growing more important by the day. The very heart of what we do as an organization is to advance the specialty of legal nurse consulting regardless of where are in our geography around the world. We are community, and now more than ever, we encourage all of you to connect with one another as nurses, colleagues, and friends. We are proud to be known as your professional home, and together, we will support one another through this season and beyond.

If you have already registered for the event, please watch your inbox for additional communications regarding refunds. We appreciate your additional patience during this unprecedented time and will be in touch with you as soon as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did AALNC wait until now to cancel?

AALNC leadership has been monitoring this evolving situation and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The Board of Directors recognized that the developments around COVID-19 were changing significantly each day and the consequences of potentially displacing healthcare workers during this critical time would cause an adverse event. AALNC does not take this unprecedented decision lightly and it required coordination and counsel with AALNC’s legal team. AALNC and our members are committed to advancing the legal nurse consulting specialty and promoting this professional development practice. With this in mind, the most responsible path forward to fulfill that mission was to cancel this year’s event.

Will the AALNC Annual Forum be rescheduled to take place later this year?

There are many details and factors that go into planning an event such as the AALNC Annual Forum. Based on limited exhibitor and speaker availability and evolving situation of COVID-19, the AALNC Forum will not be rescheduled for later this year. We look forward to welcoming you to next year’s Annual Forum, April 14 - 16, 2021 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Will attendees and exhibitors be refunded for airline tickets?

AALNC is not responsible for reimbursement of non-refundable airfare. Many carriers are offering credits due to COVID-19 and we encourage you to access these credits as soon as possible.

How will the conference cancellation impact the organization?

AALNC did not make this decision lightly. While we recognize our decision to cancel as the right one, the association’s contracts with many vendors and our host hotel require that we work in coordination with our legal counsel and insurance provider to make every effort to ensure the least possible financial loss to our organization. Due to conservative budget management and investments by AALNC leadership over the last few years, AALNC is in a healthy state financially to sustain an unpredictable outcome such as this that is beyond anyone’s control. We will provide additional communication to the members as it relates to impact of the future, should it be necessary. We ask for your patience as we work through the process.
