Novice to Skilled - Topics for Growth as an LNC

This interactive workshop starts off with hands on experience focusing on designing, revising, and creating your own report templates with help from experienced LNC mentors Shanna Robert and Cassie Foster. Then learn more skills on how to build and write medical chronologies from Dr. John Shim followed by key points on what takes place when a healthcare provider fails to meet the standard of care from attorney Lance Leider.

This is an interactive session focused on designing, revising, report templates to create consistent and specific work product, ultimately increasing comprehension and longevity of contracts. This session is focused on key factors which will enhance consistency and accountability across all reports which are standard to LNC practice. Identifying proper information, standardizing writing and calling attention to specific medical issues relevant to a case will be discussed in detail.

This interactive session will focus on building and writing a medical chronology. Discussion will include understanding your client and roll as a LNC; vetting documents and identifying true duplicates; determining the relevance to a concern, nature of the timeline and what is meaningful data; the concept of layering information; what to do when missing records or with conflicting findings; and the evolution of manual processes vs technology-enhanced processes.

Tell Me Where it Hurts - Personal Injury Litigation

Join LNC Robin Axtell and attorney David Wolf to learn more about how a personal injury case evolves and how the LNC can work with attorney clients in analyzing and working through personal injury cases. LNCs Dawn Espinosa and Shanna Robert will dive in further to share cases with interactive learning for the LNC to understand more fully the physical injuries and damages and the mental health components in personal injury cases to help the LNC broaden and expand their service line to include personal injury cases.

The session will provide the basis for how a personal injury case evolves as well as the elements of a personal injury case, and understanding how Florida law applies. This session will discuss how a personal injury case evolves reviewing the components of coverage, insurance liens, no-fault laws, EMC, PIP, permanency requirement, statute of limitations, and medical treatment required. At the end of the session participants will be able to identify the role and value of a LNC working in a team approach with the attorney and legal team.
